History
The Eau Claire Library was established May 4, 1938 and combined with The Village of Eau Claire, Berrien Township and Pipestone Township to become a district library in December 1964.
The current location of the Eau Claire District Library began construction in 1980 when land was donated by Robert & Beatrice Payne. Both entrances were constructed beautiful stained-glass windows by Walter Pymn. The project was funded by the Library Club in memory of all its past members.
Once the building was completed in the Spring of 1981, contents were brought over from the Village and furniture was added, funded by additional donations from the Payne family.
The building was expanded in 2002 with the addition of a Community Room with kitchen and another bathroom.
Ann Greene was hired in October 1981 as the first Librarian, and served the community for 43 years before her retirement in May 2024.
Chrisynthia Casper was hired in June 2024 as her replacement.
